    The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is India’s largest Central Armed Police Force, tasked with maintaining internal security. It was originally established as the Crown Representatives Police in 1939, and renamed as CRPF in 1949 through an Act of Parliament . It plays a vital role in counter-insurgency, anti-Naxal operations, riot control, VIP security, and election duties. With over 246 battalions, it is deployed across India in challenging terrains and conflict zones. CRPF is also known for its humanitarian efforts during natural disasters and its participation in UN peacekeeping missions.
